Robert Schlesinger

Robert Schlesinger is managing editor for opinion at US News & World Report, overseeing all opinion content while also writing the biweekly Capital Notions column as well as a regular blog post. He is also author of White House Ghosts: Presidents and Their Speechwriters, a narrative history of modern presidential speeches and speechwriting.

Before joining US News, he worked in the Boston Globe’s Washington bureau, was chief congressional correspondent at voter.com, was political editor at The Hill newspaper and worked at the Center for Public Integrity. His work has also appeared in The Washington Monthly, The American Conservative, Salon, People, The Weekly Standard, Campaigns & Elections, and George, among other publications.

Schlesinger lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, two children, and their dog.
